My Network Marketing Success Secret

Since I have been writing on this blog, my inbox has been flooded with people already in network marketing , who are excited about the prospect of marketing their business without having to chase family members and friends, or cold-calling leads. Many of you have asked me to help you build an attraction marketing campaign. The best alternative I could think of, was to lead you to the place that taught me all about attraction marketing and how to generate more leads and more cash for my business as quickly as possible.

Why Do You Need The Renegade System To Succeed In Your MLM Business?

* #1: Do you despise bugging your family, your friends and people who are just praying that you won't bring up your "business" opportunity?

* #2: Are you tired of hounding prospects who you know couldn't care less about your business?

* #3: Are you sick of being told to "Just do more of it!" when it's obvious that what you're supposed to be doing more of never worked in the first place!

Lie #2: Anyone Can Do This!

At best, this statement is only half-true. In my opinion, the value of the truth contained in the statement is far outweighed by the sheer number of people it misleads.

Why is this statement only half true?

Well, whether we want to admit it or not, not all network marketers start their business on equal footing. Some come into the business with substantial advantages, while others come into the business with substantial disadvantages. Don’t believe me?

Let’s say 2 people want to start their business with Company Z. Person A has been in network marketing for the past 10 years, was a top money earner with Company Y; and he’s been a network marketer full-time for the past 6 years, and has a faithful downline 1,000 strong. Person B works 60 hours a week at a dead-end job, has bills up to his eyeballs, and has never been involved in network marketing, but he’s heard that “anyone can do it” so he’s ready to get going and get himself out of the financial rut he’s been in for the past 5 years. Who will be the first person to reach let’s just say $100,000 in 6 months? I’d be willing to be the farm that it’ll be Person A. Why?

Person A has significant advantages: he’s been in network marketing for 10 years (read: he has substantial experience); He was a top money earned (read; he has money to spend to grow his business; he is a full-time network marketer (read: he has time to build the business); and he has a faithful downline (read: customers).

Person B represents a large percentage of people who find their way to network marketing. Person B is at a significant disadvantage in starting with Company Y. Person B works 60 hours a week (read: he won’t have much time to devote to the business); he has bills up to his eyeballs (read: he has very little money to build the business); and he has never been involved in network marketing (read: he has no experience).

Am I trying to discourage people who resemble Person B from getting into a network marketing opportunity? Absolutely not! There are plenty of people out there that were just like Person B and who are now millionaires. That’s what makes network marketing the incredible business model that it is.

The point is, that everyone is on a different timeline. There are so many factors that determine how quickly and easily people start making money in network marketing. One of the most important factors is skill level. That is why I provide network marketers with step-by-step instruction and mentoring, to ensure that our beginners begin learning the skills necessary to succeed as soon as possible.

Another important factor is money. Although companies’ start-up costs vary widely, one thing that remains true for all companies is that you will need a monthly marketing budget. Most Sponsors and Top Money Earners won’t tell you that, but the reality is you will need money to market your business to its full potential. You won't need thousands, but you will need a little money.

Why do you need a marketing budget? Well, without money, you won’t have a constant stream of fresh prospects that you need to build your business. There are two ways to get leads: buy them or generate them yourself through advertising. The ones you generate yourself will be far more qualified, but it costs money even to generate leads yourself.

The other main factor is time. Yes, you can start building your business with little time, but the more time you spend the quicker your business will grow.

When Person B approaches me about joining my business, I have an honest heart-to-heart with them about the reality of this business. I take them down off of the “Anyone can do it” cloud, and let them see the reality that they will be facing. I teach them how they can make money quickly to fund their business, they learn through a system which teach them step-by step the skills necessary to succeed in this business. Once they have some steady income, a few months of solid training on the network marketing business, then it is time for them to choose a home-based business.

Other people sadly are out for the “Quick Sell”, they wouldn’t mind if a guy spent his last dime to sign up for their opportunity, only to have 0 money to market his business. I don’t think that the Quick Sell is the way to build a business. In the short term, it’s great- more sales. In the long term, it’s a long list of discouraged, broke, and angry people.

The moral of this story: please be honest with your prospects. Tell them what it really takes to succeed in this business, and you will be rewarded with happy, successful business builders, which will in turn take you to the top of your network marketing business!

Tired of the Traditional MLM Recipe?

I just read something today that really made me mad. Apparently, a highly respected veteran in the network marketing industry, sent out an e-mail that was bashing what he called “Network Marketing” gurus for teaching people the skills of self-branding and independent lead generation.

This guy said that 99% of network marketers don’t want to know about how to brand themselves in their business or learn the skill of lead generation and, he said, that people didn't have the mental capacity to do it. I was appalled. How cynical. How insulting to the 99% of network marketers in the industry.

The ironic part of it, that this was coming from a guy sending out an email to a list of subscribers he had created through personal lead generation and self branding.

This veteran’s view was eerily similar to a guy I studied in college- Karl Marx. You may have heard of him, the Father of Communism. Karl Marx believed that people are too stupid to make their own decisions on how to spend their money. Thus, it was the job of the almighty government to tell them how to spend their money. This guy’s idea that 99% of network marketers don’t have the ability to learn how to brand themselves is not much different that Mr. Marx’s.

It doesn’t surprise me all that much though, when you think about it. This guy made his money the old-fashioned way. Talking to everyone within a 3-foot radius. He knows how tough it is to build a business that way. That’s exactly why only approximately 3% really make money in network marketing…that is…until now.

With the Internet came the ability to talk with a person across the country with the click of a mouse. With the Internet came our ability to grow a business much faster than the Veterans did. And the people who figured out how to use the Internet to achieve this feat became instant MLM leaders, and this doesn’t make the “old school” guys very happy. They are miffed that someone could build an organization equal in size to theirs in less than half the time- without cold calls, hotel meetings, and coffee appointments. So they will naysay it until the very end. They don’t want the competition for the leadership roles! Shame on them!

Considering that these folks preach from their stages in hotel meeting rooms, on conference calls, and at conventions about how their company offers the “average” person the ability to make millions. Yet, when others try to teach their distributors how to make millions, but in a different way (and a faster and much more efficient way I might add) they criticize their efforts.

If it is true that 99% of network marketers aren’t interested in self-branding (branding themselves as a leader) and generating their own leads instead of paying $5 per lead, then we’re all in trouble because the high attrition rate in network marketing will stay the same. I don’t believe that is the case at all.

Actually I believe that our industry is filled with highly motivated and innovative individuals that don't want to be given a job to do without personal thought or insight. The “old-school” way of network marketing tells people to: Take people to a hotel meeting. Meet them at a coffee shop. Answer their objections with these canned responses. “Edify” your upline. Close them using one of 5 methods.

It’s a job. It’s not a business. If it was a business, you would be able to infuse creativity and your own thoughts into the system. If it was a business, you would be a true leader and offer truly valuable information to your downline, not the tired old recipe handed down from generation to generation.

Yes. You can get people into the business using the traditional recipe. But you have to go through the time-consuming, emotionally draining recipe thousands of times to even build a small organization. If they say 1 out of 10 will join your business…Then after talking with 100 you’ve only got 10 people. That sounds like a pretty darn inefficient way to run a business.

With Internet marketing you can become a leader just by educating yourself and helping to educate other people on how to build a business. With internet marketing, you build a group of people who trust you, and want to do business with you.

With Internet marketing you aren’t limited to talking with people in your hometown or in cities within driving distance.

With Internet marketing people come to you to learn information. Now what’s so wrong with that? Why should we be resigned to being the hunter instead of the hunted? You shouldn’t.

I believe that Internet marketing offers the ability for people to learn how to become leaders, for them to become leaders, and for them to get rewarded for their efforts in helping others.

Network marketing offers people like you and me, who don’t have hundreds of thousands or millions to invest in a brick and mortar business, the opportunity to become a millionaire within just a few years.

I believe that you have that future waiting for you.

I don't think you are one of the 99% that he was talking about as simply needing to be told what to do because that's all that your mind can handle. How do I know?

Because I started from nothing, and if I can attract people into my business without using the tired old recipe, so can you. If I can have multiple people join my business in just a few weeks without ever having spoken to them about my business, with just a minimal amount of internet marketing experience, so can you. I believe you can even if you don’t.

Why?

Because just a couple of months ago I was told that if I just worked diligently for a few months, I would start seeing people joining my business and coming to me asking about my business without my ever buying leads, cold-calling, or posting flyers around town. At times I didn’t think it would really work, but I held on to the hope, and it started happening. Faster than I ever imagined. So I keep that statement in mind and I get strength from it on the slow days, and so now I am passing it on to you.

There will come a day when you'll have a thriving organization that grows without effort, and a lack of money is no longer an issue. I believe that the day will come, just a few years down the road, when you look at yourself in the mirror and say . . . "How did I get so lucky? Do I really deserve all this?"

The answer is . . . Yes you do!

Are You a Wanna-be or An Entrepeneur?

Wanna-be’s obsess about ideas.

Entrepreneurs obsess about implementation.

Wanna-be’s seek a perfect plan.

Entrepreneurs execute and adjust the plan later.

Wanna-be’s wait for their lucky break.

Entrepreneurs engineer 4, 5, 6 plans and execute them in tandem, wagering that at least one plan will get traction.

Wanna-be’s fear looking stupid in front of their friends.

Entrepreneurs willingly risk making fools of themselves,
knowing that long-term success is a good trade for short-term loss of dignity.

Wanna-be’s shield their precious ideas from harsh reality, postponing the verdict of success or failure until ’someday.’

Entrepreneurs expose their ideas to cold reality as soon as reasonably possible.

Wanna-be’s put off practicing basketball until they’ve got Air Jordans.

Entrepreneurs practice barefoot behind the garage.

Wanna-be’s think about the world in terms of COULD and SHOULD.

Entrepreneurs think in terms of IS and CAN BE.

So, which are you? A Wanna-Be or an Entrepeneur?

Here's a test:

How many books on network marketing do you own?
How many conference calls are you on each week?
How many people do you talk to about your business each day?What would you be willing to give and sacrifice to succeed?


If the answer isn't "whatever it takes"- you are just wasting your time.

If you aren't currently reading a book on network marketing or personal development, if you aren't on training calls, and/or you aren't talking with or learning how to improve your business on a DAILY basis... you are a wanna-be.

If you blame others, a lack of money, a lack of knowledge, and/or a lack of time for your current situation...
you are a wanna-be.

What are the qualities of an entrepeneur?

A willingness to spend their last dime on training or advertising if necessary.

Refusal to wait for their sponsor to return a phone call or e-mail before taking action.

Never complaining that they didn't make a profit in their first few months in a business.

Never putting all of their faith into one system, but instead learning from many systems.

Never complaining about the cost of growing their business, they know it is a small price to pay.

Never being "too busy" or "too tired" to grow their business.

Never asking others if they think that they can "really succeed" in a business.

Always willing to put in more work than they initially get rewarded for.

What difference does any of this make?

Wanna-be's make up the 97% of people who fail in network marketing.

Entrepeneurs are the 1% of network marketers that you see on stage, in nice cars, in nice homes, and are at the top of their business.

For some of you, reading this will be an affirmation- that you are on the path to success.

Have You Been Telling This Myth?

Ever since I discovered the concept of "attraction marketing," I've become a student again, constantly studying e-book after e-book to gain valuable information to pass on to others. I ran across a few things in Ann Seig's 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing, that I just couldn't wait to share with you. And those are some of the biggest myths of network marketing.

I'll be sharing these myths with you over the next week or two, in the hopes that you will pass them on to your downline, so that together, we can stop the attrition and start creating millionaires!

Myth #1: Everyone Is Your Prospect

This belief is what fuled the "3-foot rule" that I just couldn't bear to follow.

This myth causes folks to talk to every waitress, gas station attendant, Kinko's clerk, stranger in the mall, you name it. This is the belief that everyone is a prospect.

Why is this a myth? Think about it...

Not everyone is looking to start their own business.

Some people are happy with their 9 to 5 job.

Some people don't have the money to properly run a business.

Some people are to scared to take a risk.

Many people just don't have the time.


Other people just don't have what it takes to be an entrepreneur...and that's okay. As a society we need doctors, we need chefs, we need farmers, we need teachers, we need lawyers. The point is, civilization works because of our diversity.

Now, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't talk to your warm market about your business, and it doesn't mean that you shouldn't talk with leads. It also doesn't mean that people haven't succeeded using the 3-Foot Rule, but, for me, those traditional methods never really worked. So, I turned to internet marketing.

Whether you are marketing face-to-face or on the internet, remember this: you don't need to convince ANYONE to get into your travel business. It's a waste of your time and energy. In fact, I am now building my business using this motto:

No one is worth my time until they've shown an interest in what I am offering.

It doesn't matter how qualified you think a person is, or how great you think they would be at selling travel or the travel business. Surprisingly, it isn't even enough if a person wants to start their own business. Until they take action to get more information on how to do it, they're nothing more than a bystander. They aren't a player in the game, so they aren't worth your valuable time and energy.

As a business owner, it isn't your job to convert people into business owners. As a business owners we need to get the maximum return for our time and effort. That means talking with people who are, for the most part, already on your same wave length. They believe in network marketing, and understand that the business is just that, a business, and not a job, which requires effort.

Maybe, you're thinking "But shouldn't at least prospect them and find out if they are on the same page as I am?"

I wouldn't.

Why?

Because in my opinion, it doesn't make a favorable first impression for your prospect.

Why?

Because by approaching them in Starbucks, you've shown them exactly how you do business- soliciting total strangers, and most people don't want to be a part of that.

By following the "everyone is a prospect" mentality, you may be making things harder on yourself than need be. Why spend your valuable time trying to force a business down someone's throat? Why do that when there are millions of people out there who want to start their own business, and who are willing to come to you for advice on how to build the business. They are the ones who deserve your time and attention. They are the true prospects.

And THAT is why the primary focus of an attraction marketing campaign is providing valuable information to others. If you are just quoting pre-printed material issued by your company, you aren't offering value. Your prospects can read that for themselves. How can you get a person to join your team or company over another one? Well, the answer is two-fold:

First, by being visible on the Internet, because that is where people go for information. This is why you use the marketing tools in The Renegade Univerity. If you are on page 56 of a Google search for your business, people can't find you. If they can't find you, they can't ask you for your help.

Second, by offering your prospects valuable information that others aren't. I've had prospects tell me that they would prefer to be on my team because I didn't just try to make the quick close.

Through my articles, my prospects learn more about my business than through the glossy sales material everyone else is giving them. They want to be with the person that sets themselves apart from the rest of the pack.

The Importance of Selecting Your Sponsor

Because I write so many articles on the network marketing I get a lot of e-mails from people already in the business. Recently, I’ve been flooded with e-mails, a few of which I would like to share with you:

I am an independent go-getter, who is a visual learner. I am so frustrated and discouraged. I know I can do this thing and change lives, but I feel that because I want to work it part time for now, I am made to feel like a dunce. Because I ask questions and want to know about the business until I am comfortable, I feel my sponsor wants nothing to do with me.

I've been reading the Tool Box from A to Z and learning a lot. But when I ask questions, it appears that my sponsor has NOT read the toolbox and is ashamed to say they "don't know" something and so I get these vague, inaccurate, timewasting non-answers.


I so believe in this company that I felt it in my spirit and went THAT day, pawned my jewerly to get the $500 and joined...THAT VERY DAY! But now, I feel very discouraged. I even told my sponsor that I was "discouraged" and he/she never even aknowledged that. I sent e-mails that he/she never read.

How are you I'm looking into going into network marketing with one of my friends here, but before I hop in head first I would like to get some more info on how to market my business. I work on a military base, and I know this is a open market, but if you could insight me, since you are already in the business I would appreciate it.

In addition to e-mails like these, I’ve had calls from people begging me to teach them how to market their business the way I market my business, which is through “Attraction Marketing.”


If you have no idea how to get started in your home business, you need to make sure that your sponsor has the ability to teach you. If your best friend Sally or Jim just got in the business, and you want to join with them, you better make sure that Sally or Jim’s sponsor or upline is both willing and able to teach you how to market your business.


The other thing you will want to know before signing up with someone is HOW they market their business. If they market their business by talking to everyone at the grocery store, post office, bank, church, etc. and take their prospects to hotel meetings or home parties, then that is what they will teach you how to do. If you are like me, and the thought of hotel meetings and talking to people at Starbucks makes you a little uneasy, and you want to market your business on the Internet, then you need to find a sponsor who can teach you how to market your business on the Internet…or be prepared to teach yourself (which will take considerably longer).


Starting your own home-based business is an exciting but serious venture. If you know that you’ll need help growing your business, you can’t afford to just “do your friend a favor” and join under them, if that means you won’t get the proper assistance you need to grow your business. If they are truly your friend, they will want you to do whatever it takes to get your business started off right. Otherwise, your relationship may be in jeopardy when/if your upline isn’t willing or able to give you support and information you need, and you end up frustrated and miserable like one of the people who sent me an e-mail asking for help. Once you’ve signed up in with your team, your best bet for information is your upline. If they aren’t marketing the way you want to market your business, then you better get busy teaching yourself how to market the business the other way!

A Beginner's Checklist to Promoting an Online Business

A Beginner's Checklist to Promoting an Online Business (Part 1)

The Internet's full of hyped-up promises of the 'ultimate' marketing secret that will singlehandedly skyrocket your business to instant success.

Naturally, this is ALL it is: hype. There's no single 'secret' that will magically transform a fledgling business into a powerful money-maker. Instead, every business owner is responsible for testing and refining various techniques until he or she has developed a solid, effective base that produces the desired results.

What works for one business may not work for another! Likewise, another business may have poor results with one method, while others experience great success. Here's a quick checklist of some of the more popular -- and completely free -- marketing techniques to help you build your online business (note: this is a 3-part series).

PART 1: FREE ONLINE MARKETING TECHNIQUES

1. Build and use your own opt-in list of targeted and interested prospects. Offer a free newsletter that provides fresh, interesting, and relevant content. You'll receive feedback from your readers about what's important to them, and over time they'll come to know and trust you. Your products, services, and even recommendations will then be taken much more seriously because you've developed credibility with your readers.

2. Contribute to newsgroups or discussion boards. Establish yourself as a helpful member of a community. Other members of the community who come to know and respect you will often refer you to others.

3. Niche directories or search engines. Find all the highly-targeted directories and SEs for your market, and then work to get listed. You'll be surprised at how many niche sites there are! Good places to start looking are http://yahoo.com/ and http://www.dmoz.com/ .

4. Build your link popularity. For example, you can trade links with other businesses in your market so that you can 'share' each other's traffic. Most of the major search engines take link popularity into consideration when ranking your site.

5. Endorsed mailings to other lists. Find the editor of a great newsletter, and offer your product or service to him for free in return for a review or an endorsed ad to his list. Endorsements from the editor can far outperform regular 'ads', since they come from someone they know and trust (the editor).

6. Testimonials. It's fine for you to say that your product or service is wonderful... but there's far more 'punch' when someone else says it! Testimonials show prospects that you have happy customers and helps them to make the decision to buy.

7. Use autoresponders to follow-up with your prospects. It has been proven time and time again that autoresponders can dramatically increase your profits! They're also great time-savers, saving you from following up with each prospect manually.

8. Ad swaps. You can get extra exposure for 'free' (no out-of-pocket expenses) by swapping ad space with another editor that caters to your audience. Plus it's a great way to put 'remnant' ad space to good use.

9. Join a webring. Link to other sites like yours and build an online 'community.'

10. Offer coupons or gift certificates to entice visitors to make a purchase *now*.

11. Make good use of referral marketing. Ask happy customers to refer prospects to you. Many people are so busy these days that they're willing to rely on a trusted friend or contact's advice -- it saves them the time necessary to do all the research themselves.

12. Write and distribute articles in your area of expertise. This is a great credibility-builder! People who appreciate what you have to say are much more likely to check out your business. Another 'bonus' is that articles are often archived on websites for visitors to refer to time and time again.

13. Become an 'expert'. If you like to write and have the time to do so, consider partnering with a high-traffic site within your niche market and offer to write a regular column or article. You establish credibility and get exposure; your partner site and their readers get great content.

14. Use a 'Recommend-It' or 'Refer-A-Friend' script. These scripts let visitors send your URL to friends.

15. Make it easy for others to link to your site. Consider adding a 'Link to Us' section where you provide the HTML that visitors can simply cut and paste to their own web pages. Again, this helps to build your link popularity (see point #4).

16. Hold contests. For example, every month you could give away one of your products to a lucky subscriber or customer.

17. Use a signature. Also known as 'sig files', a signature is a brief blurb about your business along with your URL and/or contact information. Put a signature on every piece of email you send out, as well as on any message board posts (if appropriate).

18. Give away a quality free eBook or report. eBooks and reports can be excellent viral marketing tools. You can even offer them as a 'premium' to other businesses within your niche, so that they can give it away to their own customers or subscribers. This is an effective way to build a network that will willingly promote your business for you!
